In January 2005 Stout Roofing and Roof Tec, two roofing companies based out of St. George and Cedar City merged. Their goal was to combine the strengths of both businesses and form a roofing company that could meet the needs of a much more diverse customer base. Stout Roofing offered most roofing systems, but specialized in concrete tile applications, torch down applied modified bitumen on flat roofs, and all types of re-roofs. Roof Tec specialized in metal roofing, asphalt shingles and single ply membrane (PVC, TPO & EPDM) systems on flat roofs.

The merger created a company that could meet the needs of any customer. It has become Southern Utah’s only full-service roofing shop. Now, a customer with a project that requires concrete tile, copper bay windows, steel parapet cap, and single ply membrane can deal with one roofing contractor. This change helps the customer to avoid confusion over which company is responsible for each section of the roof.

Diversity of roofing application expertise was not the only benefit of the merger of the two companies. The management team that was formed as a result of the merger is diverse and experienced with six former owners of their own roofing companies along with others who have management experience in material distribution and production.

Stout Roofing has the equipment needed to handle any job. It owns all of its own forklifts, trucks, dump trucks, trailers, and lift trucks. It also has a full-service metal shop complete with a hydraulic shear and a computerized break capable of creating any custom sheet metal details a project will require.
